The most famous monument in the city of Buenos Aires, it was erected in 1936 to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the first foundation of the city. It is located in the Plaza de la República in the intersection of avenues Corrientes and 9 de Julio, the latter holding the record for being the widest avenue in the world!

Plaza de Mayo

Formed in 1884, Plaza de Mayo is a city square which is the main foundational site of the city of Buenos Aires. It has been the scene of the most momentous events in Argentine history, as well as the largest popular demonstrations in the country.Its name commemorates the May Revolution of 1810, which started the process towards the country's independence from Spain in 1816.

Completed in 1967, the gardens were inaugurated on occasion of a State visit to Argentina by then-Crown Prince Akihito and Princess Michiko of Japan.The lake, populated with carp, is surrounded by flora of Japan, such as sakura, katsura, momiji and azalea.The park is also graced by a Japanese Peace Bell and a large ishidoro (石灯ろう Japanese stone lanterns central to their Buddhist traditions), as well as numerous other granite sculptures. A Japanese Buddhist Temple is maintained on the grounds and the Institute also hosts regular cultural activities for the general public.

Teatro Colón (Columbus Theatre)

The Teatro Colón is a historic opera house in Buenos Aires, which dates back to 1857. Although the current building underwent a 20-year construction process from 1888 to 1908. It is considered one of the ten best opera houses in the world by National Geographic. According to acoustics expert Leo Beranek, it has the room with the best acoustics for opera and the second best for concerts in the world. Luciano Pavarotti held a similar opinion. It was declared a National Historic Monument in 1991 and underwent considerable refurbishment from October 2006 to May 2010.

La Boca & Caminito (Little walkway)

This vibrant neighbourhood is a popular destination for tourists visiting Argentina, La Boca boasts colourful houses, the Caminito (a street museum and a traditional alley), where tango dancers perform and tango-related memorabilia is sold. Other attractions include the La Ribera theatre, many tango music clubs, and Italian taverns.Among sports fans, Boca is best known for being the home of the world-renowned football club Boca Juniors. The club plays its home matches in Estadio Alberto J. Armando, popularly known as La Bombonera (Spanish for "the bonbon box").

Ecoparque (Eco-park)

The former zoo, opened in 1888, has been declared a national historic monument in Argentina. It closed in 2016, reopening as an ecopark in 2018. Its more than 40 historic buildings (that had been declared historical heritage) were refurbished, including the arc at the main entrance, the parrots pavilion, the byzantine ruins, the Confitería del Aguila, and the herons bridge, among others. It is a beautiful and free area to walk around and some some of the animals that have been rescued who who could not survive in the wild.

Cementerio de Recoleta

La Recoleta Cemetery is a cemetery located in the Recoleta neighbourhood of Buenos Aires, Argentina. It contains the graves of notable people, including Eva Perón, presidents of Argentina, Nobel Prize winners, the founder of the Argentine Navy, and military commanders such as Julio Argentino Roca. In 2011, the BBC hailed it as one of the world's best cemeteries, and in 2013, CNN listed it among the 10 most beautiful cemeteries in the world.

Historic San Telmo

San Telmo ("Saint Pedro González Telmo") is the oldest barrio (neighborhood) of Buenos Aires, Argentina. A well-preserved area of the Argentine metropolis, it hosts some of its oldest buildings. One of the birthplaces of tango, during the 60s and 70s it became the Bohemian district with painters ateliers and jazz clubs. Cafes, tango parlors and antique shops line the cobblestone streets, which are often filled with street artists and dancers.
